2010 WHITETAIL DEER HUNT AT READ RANCH OZONA, TEXAS Since 2001, we have guided whitetail deer hunts for the Read Ranch.  In 2009 Tony and Hal took over the hunting operations and opened Cross Texas Outfitters.  The Read Ranch is located in Crockett County about 17 miles southeast of Ozona,Texas.  The Read Ranch is approximately 5000 acres of rolling hills covered with live oak, cedar, and some mesquite trees.  It has 24 nice double deer blinds with corn feeders at each blind, and includes very scenic topography.  You will see an abundance of deer and will likely see wild turkey, javelina, and other wildlife.  The new hunt camp has been constructed within the past 10 years and has a nice rock pavillion with full kitchen, dining facilities and large rock fireplace.  Outside the pavillion there is a fire pit surrounded with live oaks which is a nice spot to spend the evening after your hunt.  We have very nice restroom facilities with showers, for male and female.  Full R/V hookups are also available.  Sleeping arrangements consist of 8 heavy canvas steel frame tents with elect/heating, gun cabinet, carpet floors, and two beds per tent. The price for this four day /five night hunt package is $2,800.00 (with a total of 15 hunters) and includes three meals a day each day of the hunt, lodging, guides that will take you to and from the deer blinds, and some game care.  Each hunter can harvest one buck, four doe, two javelina and any predator animal such as bobcat and mountain lion.  The date for this hunt is scheduled for December with a show up date on the evening of December 2, 2010 and hunt the days of the 3rd, thru the 6th, and depart on the morning of December 7, 2010.  These times fall within the predicted rut times for this area according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife.  This will be the only whitetail buck hunt on this ranch this year.
